Billboard Hot 100 Highlights May 21st, 2016

So, an explosion kinda happened, didn't it? You can expect that when you have two album bombs back to back essentially. Also Drake scores his first Number 1 as a lead artist. Unlike so many other people, I don't think this song is that bad. In fact I'm puzzled more people aren't just apathetic about it. But whatever. No point in having grievances with other peoples' opinions.

Like what I did last week with Lemonade, I will not give my thoughts on the new Drake songs here. You can take a look at my track-by-track review of Views if you're curious about that. I will still have my rankings for the new songs here. HIGHLIGHTS TIME!

New Entries Ranked

1. Weston Road Flows

2. Keep the Family Close

3. Too Good

4. H.O.L.Y.
Still miffed Confession didn't take off. But to be fair, this ain't bad. It's a bit Christian music-y here and there, but it is nicely composed. Once again, FGL can make good country if they want to. I wonder if the radio cuts out the word "High". Heh...

5. Redemption

6. My Boo
So, I've never heard this song before. Apparently it's a mid-90s song that recharted thanks to some Running Challenge meme. Yeah, pass on memes. The song's alright though. Wonderfully dated R&B. Also funny enough it's charting higher than it originally did in 1996. Whoa.

7. Don't Mind
There's a certain charm to this guy. Even though he seems pretty cocky...I dunno. But he's got some charisma. He also doesn't seem to be taking this seriously, which is a plus. The beat's also got a nice groove to it, despite the minimalism.

8. True Colors
It's a relief to see Kesha recording music. This sounds distinctly un-Kesha though. Eh. She's capable of more, but I'll take this for now. There is a certain charm to Zedd's sweeping production. Still, it feels kinda empty without some sort of drop.

9. Childs Play

10. Views

11. This Is What You Came For
I never found Calvin Harris as egregious as people say I'm supposed to. And that kinda continues here. While it's not stellar, it is smooth and agreeable. Of course, compared to the other Top Ten EDM songs from Mike Posner and The Chainsmokers, this could stand to be a little more exciting.

12. Hype

13. Grammys

14. Feel No Ways

15. With You

16. Faithful
