Billboard Hot 100 Highlights June 18th, 2016

So, other than a certain other soundtrack song cracking the Top 10, the part of the Hot 100 that really matters was pretty quiet this week. Bleh. There might be more coming up to shake up the summer, but as it stands, there's not much to talk about. New and Returning Entries

1. No Problem
This song is just so much fun. I'm glad it got a video and came back. Even 2 Chainz can't ruin this song.

2. American Country Love Song
I wasn't impressed with this song at first. But this time around I think I like it a lot. Jake Owen's a decent guy, and this song is fun and patriotic. Wouldn't mind this sticking for the summer, it certainly fits.

3. Sit Still, Look Pretty
I did not hate Hide Away. Like, at all. Though this is better because the production feels tighter and Daya asserts more dominance. It's a fun and catchy song that everyone I follow is inevitably going to complain about. Fun...

4. Different For Girls
The strings on this sound beautiful. Elle King doing background vocals adds a nice touch. And I do appreciate how this song attempts to sympathize with the other gender and their experiences.

5. Fix
Fun song and all. Nice guitars, Chris Lane's got a nice voice. Though it comes off as a bit too cocky, which makes it a little uncomfortable. Overall, still enjoyable.

6. Peter Pan
So now we have two songs about Peter Pan on the Hot 100. And I honestly prefer the one by Ruth B. But this ain't bad. Well-produced, the heart's in the right place. I may not have liked Kelsea Ballerini's songs before, but this isn't half bad. If a bit forgettable.

7. Kill Em With Kindess
Well, it's a step up from Hands To Myself. Groove is okay, though Selena himself isn't great. Too many vocal effects to try to make her sound interesting. For me, this song is really only worth listening to for that whistle drop.

8. Really Really
Ehhh. I had no urge to return to this song while it was still on the charts. The hook is still sluggish but I guess the verses are alright? I'd honestly go with 2 Phones. Kinda more interesting.

9. Make You Miss Me
I swear Sam Hunt's voice make everything sound dickish. Fake drums sound bad. Also the lyrics sound pretty disingenuous. I feel more angry than touched listening to this. Kinda like Luke Bryan's Crash My Party. This is not how you do country ballads.
