New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Stir Fry

Okay, no joke. This one of the best Migos songs I've heard. The beat is surprisingly effective with the little whistles in the background that give off an oriental vibe. Offset kills it, Quavo's chorus is catchy, and Takeoff is serviceable too. This is one of the group's most fun songs, and I wish this got a full single push like MotorSport.

2. Krippy Kush (Remix)

Okay so the artist credit is a little misleading. This song got a video but replaced 21 Savage with Travis Scott for some reason. On one hand, that's usually an upgrade, but on the other hand, that's yet another song he's notched on the charts this week. Joy. Whatever. This still bumps. And I'm a little surprised they didn't Travis over Savage for the remix from the start because he's kinda perfect for this spaced out vibe.

3. Thunder/Young Dumb & Broke Medley

At first it seemed like a weird idea to combine these two songs, but they have more similarities than you would otherwise realize. Both have a laid-back vibe and some singalong repetition on the chorus. And while I would just rather listen to one song or the other, I like this medley fine enough. Khalid works with Thunder's instrumental, though I prefer the vocals of the original YD&B more. But my favorite part of this is the "ya-da-da" section toward the end. They feel larger than life, and add a lot to make it feel larger than life. So yeah. Nice novelty. Wouldn't expect it to stick around but still.

4. Modern Slavery

"All these damn chains modern slavery, but this the 1800s so they pay me." Uh...what? Aside from that, this is a song that mostly leans on its sample. It feels old-timey but still fun. And then there's all sorts of autotune that melds surprisingly well with the beat. So yeah, not bad.

5. La Modelo

"The model." So, I didn't know this was a thing. Chalk up another hit for Cardi I guess. This is a strange one, mostly because this features Cardi performing not just in Spanish, but singing instead of rapping, for the most part. And I'll say this, her singing voice is more lush and expressive than I expected it to be. A stark contrast from her typical rap delivery. It's nice, to the point where it's a bit surprising when she drops an 8 bar rap verse in English. Which isn't one of her better verses, but still. Other than that...the beat and Ozuna are kinda underwhelming. I get the vibe appeal, but it's not for me. Not egregious, but clearly the only reason people cared about this song is Cardi.

6. Black & Chinese

I'm not happy to hear the "Commas" alarms come back, but other than that I can appreciate the beat having some energy on this album for once. Combined with the autotune, this feels like something I could just sit back and kinda vibe to. Which I'm sure was the intention of this album, so it's getting something right.

7. Eye 2 Eye

Beat is pretty underdeveloped but vaguely catchy. So par for the course on this album. The melody on the hook clashes with the beat though, due to how static the beat is. The lowest note of that five note melody clashes in particular. Though this song is salvaged a bit by Takeoff, who has a pretty good verse with some clever punchlines. Takeoff needs more work.

8. Bartier Cardi

The big one. The second single from Cardi B's upcoming album, and just like with Bodak Yellow, I have some issues. First, what I liked. The beat's aggressive, though with the synth tones it almost feels like a drill going through your brain. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. As for my issues...I still don't like Cardi's overemphasis of certain words. And her rhyme scheme on the chorus feels way too cluttered. Bars blend together and it's hard to make out what she's saying. And I'm pretty sure the second half is just reminding us that she's engaged to Offset. Which uh...you know he did cheat on you. 21 Savage feels like he's just here for star power, with a short verse that doesn't really add anything. Plus that "hot sauce on her titties" line...yeah, stop doing stuff like that. That's not sexy.

9. Saint

So, the beat here is passable. Heavy emphasis on bells. What you would normally expect from a trap song really. Though it's not particularly special. Though Travis and Quavo don't have bad interplay here. Nothing egregious, but kinda forgettable.

10. Huncho Jack

Oh hello Murda Beatz watermark. The beat to this is so non-descript it might as well not even exist, aside from some moments where there's some video game synths. You know the ones. In this case the only reason this is catchy is because of Travis and Quavo. Which is a little weird. Generic filler, outside of those synths.

11. Motorcycle Patches

The beat here is weak. It's mildy catchy but feels incomplete, unexpressive and plastic. And Travis' cadence on the hook clashes horribly with it. The highest note in that melody doesn't work with the notes the beat is playing. And it feels flat. There was some potential here, but they didn't go as far as they could go.

12. Dubai S**t

Another pretty weak beat, playing off mostly weedy synths without much melody. Again, mildy catchy, but without a lot of substance or opportunities to get turnt. Travis sounds bored out of his mind on the hook, and Quavo's verse isn't much better. Also apparently Offset was on this too? With his autotune I thought he was Quavo during his verse. So his appearance on this song was kinda pointless. Way to integrate your fellow Migos member, dude.
