New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Mine

So, I'm completely unaware of why this song from October is suddenly picking up steam. But I kinda dig it. It's the sort of quirky electropop that's a fun surprise. Bazzi's voice is bright and colorful and he just sounds happy to be alive. What an infectious track.

2. Sick Boy

Lol.

3. No Name

You know, this seems like the guy I should like. Impressive technique, bombastic beats. But something's not clicking with me. Maybe it's the writing? Most of it is pretty vague. Except for a few lines which seem to be references to the success of Let You Down. Guy clearly has potential but he's not all the way there for me.

4. Wait

Think this shrunk on me. Now the weird sounds are kind of a turnoff for me. But not as big of a turnout as Adam Levine literally just using Snapchat filters for the official video. You can do better than to basically Musical.ly this crap.

5. God's Plan

Well, this is our new number 1. And it doesn't sound like it was worth putting it there. Sure the beat's kinda cool, resembling the organ songs you'd hear at a baseball game, but Drake's autotuned, checked out performance is just derivative. He's just complaining. Like he always does. And can't manage to make it engaging or memorable. Wish I could say I don't see this sticking around but it's already predicted to top the Hot 100 for another so...bleh.

6. Diplomatic Immunity

Well, the beat at least sounds like something with opulence. While Drake does Drake. Just, kinda droning around without any real regard to the beat going on behind him. Like pretty much every rap song he's made in the past couple years. There's pretty much no replay value to this. Not the worst thing ever, but, like, why does this need to exist?

7. Supplies

Is this trap? Why is this trap? I mean, the Neptunes are behind the beat, but this isn't even the fun kind of trap I'd expect from them. It's more modern, sludgy trap. It's the kind of thing that just doesn't flatter Justin Timberlake's voice. But then halfway, it actually starts to sound good. Guitars take more precedent and Justin starts to let loose a little. But it doesn't last long and it goes back to what it was doing before.

8. Rock

Man, talk about not trying. Dinky, bad sounding pianos. Repeating "ah" repeatedly to fill up the chorus. It's hard to tell when the verses are supposed to start in this thing. Unless they're supposed to be like 4 bars at a time followed by the chorus taking up three times the amount of time. So much of this just blends together, it might as well only be chorus. Did not miss you Plies. Even if this was better than Real Hitta, it wasn't by much.

  1. Your explanation for Sick Boy is great. 10/10.

No seriously, it sounds like a more poppy version of TOP, except more woke/political. And to add to that, Chainsmokers, more like Chainwokers, amiright?
