New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. MIC Drop

This is actually a remix by Steve Aoki. And he does a great job if you ask me. It does kinda remind me of Iggy Azalea's Black Widow, but with more impact and menace. Don't know what else to say. It sounds cool. Wouldn't mind this sticking around. Also Desiigner isn't in the music video of the song for some reason. I listened to that version to, and he fits in surprisingly well and doesn't really sound like Future anymore. So that's nice.

2. All I Want For Christmas Is You

Work plays a couple different versions of this song at the moment, and none of them are the Mariah version. One I'm pretty sure is Fifth Harmony and another is an acapella cover. So it feels nice to be able to listen to the genuine article finally. Merry Christmas. Don't ask for material stuff this year, ask for a boyfriend or girlfriend. Me, I'm gonna ask for a new job and an apartment. Yeah, it's material, but it's material I need to survive.

3. Total Eclipse Of The Heart

The Voice covers are back. I'm admittedly not very familiar with the original version of this song. I've heard it a couple times but that's it. So I think Chloe's version is actually pretty decent. I'm glad they didn't skimp on the instruments and backing vocalists for this. Chloe herself has enough rough vocal presence and tact to make it work for her. Though at times it does feel a little flat compared to the original due to being played in a lower key. But I'm sure it's so she wouldn't blow out her voice singing the high notes. Good cover.

4. Krippy Kush

I was really expecting to hate this, but I'll admit it has its moments. Particularly Nicki's verse. And Farruko's for that matter. He just goes off during the second half of his verse and it's magical. Even 21 Savage is fine. But...Bad Bunny es muy mal. I'm starting to think he's the face of Spanish mumble rap or something. When he's on the chorus and during his verse, the song feels miserable. I much prefer when Farruko does it. And the beat is actually tolerable. It's spacey and dark and pretty cool at times. So, better than I was expecting. Though I'm not surprised it needed to add two English verses to cross over. I remember it peaked at Number 1 on the Bubbling Under before falling out before.

5. All On Me

Talked about this song a little bit in my country video. Not particularly special but it is sweet and decent enough. So I'm glad to see it back.

6. Legends

If you saw my country video you'll know I gave this a 2/5. And that's because it's not a bad song, but I just find it kinda bland. The emotion feels real, but it still feels really safe . Maybe not as safe as Yeah Boy, but still just, eh, we're in a relationship or something. Not particularly memorable or special. Sorry.

7. It's Everyday Bro

So, I'm a little confused, because I would assume Billboard would list the Gucci Mane remix. Because there's no way the original version of the song got this popular again. So let's talk about the remix. Gucci doesn't add anything to this, aside from a line where he admits he gets confused by owning so many cars. It doesn't have Nick Crompton so what's the point? And Jake's flow is still pathetic. Original better. England is my city. Best 2017 list bumper music.

8. Perro Fiel

"Faithful dog." Seriously. God Shakira's just so boring lately. And sharing a stage with Nicky Jam doesn't help. This is just by-the-numbers Latin music that I'm not gonna remember after I finish listening to it. Typical percussion beat, loosely connected string production, and with a title like that I'm sure the lyrics are dumb too. This isn't as bad as Shakira's previous single, but...wow this is dull.

9. Codeine Dreaming

STOP. GIVING. KODAK. HITS. The synth tones on this are awful and Kodak is Kodaking everywhere. Not good. Just a bad acid trip. It's telling when Lil Wayne feels like a breath of fresh air, even though he sounds pretty similar to Kodak. But overall this song is weird. I guess it's more dull than it is awful. And surprisingly there's no curse words on this song, as Kodak himself points out. Huh. Still, I'll forget this.
