Billboard Hot 100 Highlights June 23rd, 2018

I would have to guess this will be a negligible week on the Hot 100 long term. At least I hope. Cause this wasn't a very good week. And I don't see the album bomb we got as very sustainable. But we'll see. Highlights.

General Notes

Country had another turbulent week from the looks of it. That's probably why we got the return of Babe, as low as it recharted. It's still okay, I guess. The new entry Lose It on the other hand is a generic bro country embarrassment. Furthering my distaste for Kane Brown. At least his less bad songs are the ones that become hits. So with luck this'll flop. At least I have to hope so.

The two rap entries were both atrocious. I Know You brings on some thick misogyny and a tuneless beat that utterly betrays what I like about Lil Skies. We traded Lust for this? Rich Sex isn't much better, with Nicki showing off her shallow gold digger side once again. Oddly enough, Lil Wayne is more enjoyable on this, even if his punchlines are kinda basic. But it's still a mess. I would honestly take the returning Me Neigo over either of those two. Even though it's not really rap. It's still better than all the new entries.

We got the entirety of Kids See Ghosts on the Hot 100. I've now heard all the songs three times each, and it has cooled on me. I really enjoy the songs Kids See Ghosts, 4th Dimenion, and Freeee, and most of the rest is fine. Very trippy hip hop that brings out some good in both Kanye and Cudi. Though Fire, Reborn, and Cudi Montage are a little underdeveloped, they're still also enjoyable. Feel The Love on the other hand is annoying, especially when Kanye imitates a machine gun. But it's still better than the other debuts.

Best: 4th Dimension
Honorable Mentions: Kids See Ghosts, Freeee (Ghost Town Pt. 2)

Worst: I Know You
Dishonorable Mentions: Rich Sex, Lose It
