New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Strangers

I heard this was the best song from Halsey's new album. And I can definitely see why. The instrumentation is just so tight and sounds incredible. Also Lauren Jauregui is one of the members of Fifth Harmony, which I forgot. Their vocals actually sound great together. In a just world, this would be the big hit from this album and not Now Or Never.

2. There For You

It's been so long since I thought of Troye Sivan. And well, I like what I hear for his comeback. Maybe comeback? This could even rival Scared To Be Lonely for me. Troye sounds incredible, the production is clean and soothing. Though the drop is weedy, it's at least controlled. Also the melody of the drop feels familiar, but I can't put my finger on why.

3. No Such Thing As A Broken Heart

I never look forward to an Old Dominion song. They don't have the greatest track record. But I dig this. The sound's organic, complete with a nice electric guitar solo, and the writing's pretty smart too. It starts with a reference to Jack & Dianne by John Mellencamp and goes on to describe uncertainties for the future. I can appreciate that. Also the fact that the music video shamelessly references retro video games is a plus.

4. Butterfly Effect

You're giving up on Birds already, Travis? Sad to say that this beat doesn't sound finished. There's something there, but the melody is too thin and the bass doesn't have enough presence. Kind of a disappointment but I guess not terrible. Also the way Travis sings "M&Ms" is kinda funny to me.

5. No Longer Friends

The only notable part of this song is a domestic violence skit. Also I think Bryson is gloating that he stole your girlfriend? Yep. Dull.

6. Don't Get Too High

What is it with Bryson Tiller's fascination with incomplete beats. This song might as well be all hi hats for at least 80%. There's no appeal to me to come back to this.

7. Self-Made

These Bryson Tiller songs are blending together at this point, so take the order with a grain of salt. I guess this is about his comeup? That's a popular rap topic. Too bad the beat is paper thing as usual.

8. Run Me Dry

Oh no he's using the bloopy organ. Which is actually something I don't always mind; I love Message Man by twenty one pilots, after all; here it's pretty weak though and only plays a couple notes. Also Bryson Tiller is still unlikeable.

9. Me Enamore

I guess Shakira's album dropped. Still hurts that this song is not good. God it's so annoying...

10. Somethin Tells Me

Something tells me (heh) that having the beat warble in and out of existence like that was the wrong move. It's so boring. And the fact that this is a song where Bryson's trying to get more sensual feels like a huge miscalculation. Usually when you go for that feel, you should try to have the beat be sexy too. Instead of derivative, malformed, and sludgy.

11. Peek A Boo

This is going to become a hit because of the cello line, isn't it? Oh god. Actually I know the album dropped last week too. I didn't relisten to this. I don't care.

12. Met Gala

I guess Offset's flow on this is alright. It's just triplets but he's consistent. But dear god this production is so boring. And this is in the same week as a Bryson Tiller album bomb. How is that possible? The bass is doing pretty much nothing the entire time and drowns out the treble. And I don't care about anything anyone's saying.
