General Notes

Most of the returning entries can be explained by them just getting their chart positions back after the Drake bomb last week. All except for Ocean dropped out last week so it's not surprising to see them again. Well, it is surprising to see Legends. I kinda figured the novelty of a tribute song to an abuser would've worn out by now. Other than that, not complaining about the returns. Especially Solo, which I will still defend.

Meek Mill seems to be making a comeback after his release from prison. I'm surprised the Miguel song didn't get here too, but both of Meek's entries this week are decent. Dangerous is more sensual but a little corny, and it's easy to mistake PnB Rock for Ty Dolla $ign a lot. But it's fine for what it is. Millidelphia is more traditionally Meek Mill with the bombastic beat and yelled delivery. And in some places it does connect. In others, like that part where the beat drops toward the end and Meek just talks, are kinda unintentionally funny. Not bad.

Future had a small album bomb from that mixtape he dropped with Zaytoven. And I couldn't really get into any of them. I think I came closest with Wifi Lit, though I couldn't tell you why. 31 Days drags on for far too long (4 minutes; that's long as hell for a Future song), Cuddle My Wrist is stupid and probably the worst of the bunch, and Racks Blue is whatever. Decent piano line I guess.

Miscellaneous news, starting with the garbage. Iggy Azalea is charting for the first time since 2016's Team and it's gross. Gross beat, gross lyrics, gross Tyga. We're at a point where Tyga is being depended on for relevance. Meanwhile, Lil Pump's Drug Addicts encourages drug use in a pretty disgusting way with the same crap beats he always brings. Cut it off here, please. It's awful.

In better news, Jackie Chan finally charted. I've been jamming to it for about a week and for a Post Malone joint, I find a lot to like about it. He mixes well with Tiesto and Dzeko's video game like production. And I guess Preme's verses are serviceable. It's a fun song. But as far as I'm concerned, twenty one pilots' return is the biggest story of the week. Jumpsuit is already very divisive, as most tøp songs are, and yeah I like it a lot. The bassline is meaty and intense, Tyler's emotional as always, the lyrics probably mean something, and the screaming at the end is cathartic. Definitely has me looking forward to Trench coming up.

Best: Jumpsuit
HMs: Jackie Chan, Millidelphia

Worst: Drug Addict
DHMs: Kream, Cuddle My Wrist
