New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Make Me Feel

Well, this is kinda weird. Pretty minimalist for the most part, with a prominent tongue click to keep time. Some little bursts of guitar and some warbling synths. It's teetering on EM a little bit but never quite gets there. And it's pretty sexy. Especially when it absolutely explodes on the bridge. Plus it manages to be bright and colorful because of its odd choices. Janelle's performance is great. Yeah, this is...oddly satisfying. I like this. A lot.

2. Break Up In The End

Glad to see Cole Swindell's back to releasing singles with genuine emotion. Nice blend of guitars and pianos, nice gentle performance, and a pretty heartwarming sentiment. Wanting to pursue a girl even though he can tell it's not going to last. Wanting to enjoy the now rather than stressing out about the later. It's very sweet. Not quite as good as You Should Be Here, but it's close.

3. She's With Me

It's alright. It's your typical pop country love song that's a little more polished than I'd really like in my country. Though the prominent banjos do help it feel a little more authentic. Plus, these guys have enough charisma to sound genuinely in love rather than creepy. So yeah. It's in my good graces.

4. Rondo

Couldn't this just be a Tory Lanez and Young Thug song? Like most other 6ix9ine songs, the beat is actually not bad, but is ruined when 6ix himself is on it. Though Tory Lanez himself is at best serviceable on the hook, but could be substituted for Travis Scott and no one would notice. Young Thug's okay, but his autotune kinda clashes with the beat. Keke was better.

5. 44 More

So this is the first song Logic records after he's officially made it big thanks to 1-800. And uh...he sampled Zoom by Future and some other weird beats to make a "freestyle." Weird but whatever. I'll always stick up for Logic's technical abilities, and here's no exception. He's got some interesting flows, but unfortunately not the lyrics to really back that up. Insisting that he doesn't need to flex to be acknowledge. Even though he's doing that. Then there's the weird, petty jab at Harry Styles and Katy Perry. And of course, the "ring ring ring" line that was the first thing I heard about this song. It's...average, I guess. Logic's capable of making better. Just hope he does it sooner rather than later.

6. Want You Back

5SOS are back, I guess. And they ripped off One Foot. And it charted the week that song fell off. There's so much wrong with that. The production feels neutered compared to that song, complete with the chorus being sung in a weak falsetto. Also the writing is empty pining that's just plain embarrassing for everyone involved. Yeah. Pass.

7. Kooda

Okay the beat's okay I guess. But the shouting is just as irritating as I remember it.

8. Psycho

It's Post Malone season again. Ugh. Last time he debuted at number 2, I actually liked Rockstar. Here...this is just dull. The beat feels underdeveloped, with the percussion drowning out any melody from the synths. And neither Post Malone nor Ty Dolla $ign are particularly impressive with their autotuned crooning. It's just a nothing of a song. And Post doesn't sound as psycho as he claims to be, nor does it really match the theme of trust issues. Just...yawn.

9. Booty

This is your fault, Charlotte. Bleh. Beat is pretty much all percussion and bass with some annoying but faint wooping sounds. Blac Youngsta is clearly a Yo Gotti wannabe, and he's not even trying with the content. Make an ass anthem if you want, but at least try to be creative with it. Instead of just saying, "Hey, shake your booty, can I touch it?" Even as a novelty song, this is boring.

10. Billy

Billy as in the doll from Saw? I don't know. Surprise surprise, it's the same damn thing as all this other guy's songs. Only with fake orchestral synths that really kick the annoyance into high gear. My god, can we just skip to this guy being irrelevant already? This might be his worst song yet.

11. Dark Knight Dummo

This didn't need to come back. We could've left it to die. I'm sure Trippie Redd's bot a better song that could chart instead of this horrifically overproduced mess. But then again, I guess Trippie really wanted to make a video where he shot down zombies.
