New Entries Ranked

1. Scared To Be Lonely

I was upset when "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" flopped immediately. So, here's Dua Lipa's second chance. And it is great. It kinda feels like Martin Garrix's take on "Roses", though with more emotional depth and more fleshed-out instrumentation. The concept of being scared to be lonely lends itself to an interesting listen. The weak link is the drop, given it's Martin Garrix. But this is one of the better drops from him I've heard. Overall, great stuff. Would love to see this stick around.

2. Culture

It's weird to me that this is the album's title track. Mostly because it's short and has a DJ Khaled intro. Telling me I was a fool for doubting Migos. I don't really buy into this claim yet, but this isn't actually that bad. It's short, the beat has some grandiose swell which is nice. So it's alright. I'll take it.

3. Run Up

I dig the beat to this. Still not sick of dancehall and this is still kicking. Still, I wouldn't call this the best replacement for "Cold Water", since both vocalists are underwhelming. PARTYNEXTDOOR has some weird lyrical choices I can't get behind, and part of Nicki's verse is literally an ad for her next album. Kind of a mess lyrically, but instrumentally it's pretty good. So that levels out to being decent.

4. Some Kind Of Drug

Not the first time a collaboration between these two hit the Hot 100. And this is kinda awkward. It's a sex jam with muted reggae synths that sound okay at best. This material doesn't really flatter G-Eazy though. His typical delivery clashes with the sexual lyrics. Marc E. Bassy's chorus isn't great either. Eazy's made some songs I really like, but this isn't one of them, unfortunately.

5. Body Like A Back Road

With all the hype surrounding this, I was expecting this to be the worst thing ever. And well, it's not good, but it's like a breath of fresh air after all that Migos. But still, barely country, the song's entire concept is stupid. Plus driving way under the speed limit can be just as dangerous as driving way over it. Still, it doesn't say anything offensive, just asinine. Sam Hunt's done a lot worse, trust me.

6. Call Casting

Bumping, I guess. To someone. But not to me. I'm not really sure how this is supposed to stand out from Migos' typical stuff.

7. Kelly Price

I guess I should be glad the production here is the kind of thing Travis Scott would usually do. That makes it more interesting than the average Migos song. In theory. Unfortunately it's sluggish and goes on for SIX MINUTES. No thanks. Also I don't think Kelly Price has been relevant in a very long time.

8. Get Witcha

The problem with multiple Migos songs hitting the charts at the same time is that the content of each song is interchangeable. So songs rely on the strength of their beats. And this beat is weak. It's mildly catchy but the keys and synths are so quiet. There's barely any bass, which doesn't help at all. And it feels too long.

9. Slippery

Well, slippery is right. It's exactly the feeling I get from this beat alone. I hate that synth tone and the way those bass notes go with it. Gucci's verse isn't good. Plus we've been getting entirely too much Gucci Mane on the Hot 100 lately.

10. I'm Better

Missy you let me down. Missy. Missyyyyyyy. Why would you saddle with this plodding, sludgy beat? That Lamb guy on the hook isn't doing this any favors either. Uncreative bragging too. Your single last year was so energetic and fun. Why would you regress to this?

11. El Amante

Or "The Lover" in English. Judging by the video's opening skit and the tone, this is a song about regretting a breakup? *Looks up lyrics* ...Nope! Basically he's telling an ex that her new boyfriend is bad for her but he won't be there to comfort her when she breaks up. Screw this. It doesn't even sound that good.
