New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Hold Up
It's frustrating that Beyoncé has been releasing some of the weaker tracks from Lemonade as singles. But, Lemonade is Lemonade. This is fun in sort of a passive aggressive way. Those strings have a nice rhythm. Beyoncé's performance is what really hits it home though. She's clearly demented but doesn't care, almost downplaying her anger. Good stuff.

2. Fade
This is more Ty Dolla $ign's song than it is Kanye's. But he does a good job. The bassline is slick and the autotuned warblings actually work quite nicely. Even Post Malone's part is actually pretty great. Yeah, it's a bit overstuffed, but it works for me. Glad the video wasn't complete trash like with the Famous video.

3. Caroline
Well this is certainly...weird. The beat's a bit warbley, but not that bad. There are moments where Aminé sounds really asinine, and others when he's kinda charming. So overall, it's kind of a mixed bag. I was ready to dismiss this as the next viral rap crap, but there's something there. Pretty good.

4. The Greatest
Even though lyrically this is basically another empowerment album, it makes up for that by being incredibly catchy. Some tropical elements compliment Sia's vocals really well. Kendrick Lamar has a good rap verse. I don't know if I see myself coming back to this often, but I do like it. Hopefully this is a good sign of what to expect for the next album.

5. Childs Play
Obviously back because of the video. Which I didn't re-watch for this post. This seems to be one of the most hated songs on the album, but I don't think it's that bad. It's fasted paced thanks to those drums. The groove's decent. Though admittedly Drake's a little insufferable.

6. Sex With Me
It's decent...but why? It's weird to see a bonus track come and go this frequently.

7. Goosebumps
I'm still of the mind that Travis Scott really isn't for me. This beat has bombast and darkness, but it feels boring and out of tune. Travis' verse is eh, not terrible. Kendrick's is a little better but not his best.
