New and Returning Entries Ranked

1. Get You

Marry me.

2. Anybody

On one hand, I kinda with there was more going on with this beat. The melody is very simple and muted on the chorus and only gets a little more intense on the verses for some reason. Plus it never evolves much aside from adding tribal voices. On the other hand, with what little this song has, it sounds great. It's got the exotic flair that I feel works best for Thugger, and his performance here is pretty hypnotic. And Nicki is able to match his cadence pretty well on her verse. And she doesn't rhyme words with themselves! Still, overall, I prefer Thugger on this, even if Nicki was a nice treat too. Overall, great stuff.

3. Guatemala

It's a Rae Sremmurd song. Just call it that. Though I'm assuming it's being billed as a solo Swae Lee song because the style more closely matches Swae's solo material anyway than Rae Sremmurd's style. Other than that, this is alright. Very much like French Montana's Unforgettable with the reverb slathered all over Swae's voice and the same African style percussion line. Though it's less exciting than Unforgettable. Maybe more chill, which is alright. Same style but different mood and all. Slim Jxmmi also sounds a bit like French Montana at certain points of his verse. And he's fine too, even if he's far from the highlight. I can see how people would feel ripped off with a song like this, but I think it does its job pretty well.

4. Cry Pretty

Oh jeez, Carrie's back with a vengeance. At least in terms of chart success. The song itself isn't that great, but still does a lot of good. Mostly in exposing emotional insecurities. Letting the listener know it's okay to let it go. Now that's been written about in music before, but it's always something that needs to be said. Instrumentation is kinda what sets it back for me. It's authentically country and all with some pop elements, but it doesn't hit as hard as I'd like it to. The production's not intense enough to grab me and there's not much melody. But still, it does what it sets out to do, and that's admirable.

5. Woman, Amen

Figured it'd be back. Still not anything that special, but it's alright and Dierks has done worse.

6. Let Me

Why is it that Zayn is the only One Direction member still charting? Ugh. But to be fair, I don't mind this. It reminds me a great deal of Versace On The Floor for the rainforest-like guitars/synths and Zayn's emotional crooning. Though the multitracking robotic vocals can be a little distracting; I don't think they were needed. Though his falsetto is better than usual, I'll give him that. This is a pretty chill, soothing love song. Not particularly deep or complex, or really as close to great as Versace On The Floor is, but I dig it.

7. Gotti

I uh...is this 6ix9ine's attempt at 808's and Heartbreaks? That's what came to mind when I heard it. And well...I don't think it's that bad. Nothing great, but there's no screaming and there's some lyrics here and there about providing for his family. Again, nothing new, but fine. The autotune also makes his voice more tolerable and the beat is spacey and pleasant. Honestly? It's okay. Probably the best of this guy's songs that I've heard.

8. This Is Me

I don't even remember what the verses sound like, even after a few listens. Also the version with Kesha is better.

9. Esskeetit

I'm pretty disappointed. This guy was supposed to be a one hit wonder, but because he went viral again, we may have to endure this guy yet again. And I've seen people who generally don't like Lil Pump say they like this, and I don't get it. The beat is cheap and lazy like it always is, with the grace notes giving me a headache. Lyrics are brazenly empty and shallow like they always are. There's nothing to really enjoy here if you didn't enjoy his other material. The only difference here seems to be that he bothered to rap two verses for this instead of one. That's something, maybe? And also he says my auntie's a groupie for him, which no. Please, just...don't do this. I don't care that he's not necessarily a bad person like certain other rappers currently charting, but this is still garbage and I don't wanna hear it anymore.
